Interested in being accepted into medical school directly from high school? BS/MD Coach has the tools, tips, and tricks to aid you in achieving success in your college admissions process.
What is a Direct Medical program?
Direct medical programs, also known as BS/MD, BA/MD, or BS-BA/DO programs, are specialized dual-degree programs that offer guaranteed medical school admission to high school students. Depending on the length of the program (6, 7, or 8 years), students in direct med programs matriculate into the affiliated medical school following the completion of their undergraduate studies contingent on certain criteria.
Although the criteria for entrance into medical school varies by program, most schools require that a minimum GPA be maintained. Some schools also expect students to take the MCAT, while others further require that students achieve a certain MCAT score. A handful of schools, however, waive the need for an MCAT.
Due to the limited number of seats in these programs, the admission rates for direct admit med programs can often parallel those of Ivy League and top private/public universities around the nation. The advisors at BS/MD Coach will help you separate yourself from the rest of the pack by offering insights on lessons we've learned from successfully coaching students through the application process as well as navigating through the process ourselves.
In addition to this website, our advisors offer free 30 minute consultations to further discuss the pros/cons of direct med programs as well as additional tricks to make your application more competitive. Feel free to schedule a consult or send us an email using the links below or to the right!
Last but not least, good luck to all you future physicians during this application period!
